British Triathlon Federation Coach CPD Workshop – Coaching Open Water Swimming

The British Triathlon Federation has made considerable strides forward in the development of coaches in recent years and are now considered one of the leading sports in the development and delivery of coach education.

With the United Kingdom Coaching Certificate (UKCC) being launched in 2006, the BTF was one of the first sports to gain accreditation for the levels one, two and three. From this base of coach education, BTF have grown its tutor workforce to make sure that the quality and consistency of coach education delivery is to a high standard.

Coach education is one of many cogs in the holistic development of coaches and the BTF are now seeking to provide a Continuous Professional Development Programme to facilitate the ongoing learning and development of its coaches. With this in mind, the BTF are pleased to announce, in conjunction with thetriathloncoach.com a one-day CPD workshop for all level 2 & 3 triathlon coaches that is specifically focused around coaching practices for open water swimming.

This workshop will be on Saturday 6th February 2010 and held at:

Provisional timetable; timings and running order may vary:

SATURDAY 6th FEBRUARY 2010

0930 Arrival

1000-1030 Introduction

1030-1130 Risk Assessment - including 30mins for practical exercise

1130-1300 Open water Swim Technique (Theory)

Lunch

1330-1430 Theory - session content and planning + race preparation

1430-1530 Practical* - how to run a session, layout, where to coach from, equipment etc.

1530-1600 Close

Practical*: this will not involve actual swimming

The price of the event will be £20 per person, this includes lunch and refreshments.
