British Triathlon North East can confirm that the regional academy for children aged between 11 & 16 will be based at Benfield School, Newcastle. Benfield have a long standing relationship with Triathlon going back several years. The sessions will be varied and Triathon specific aiming at developing technique, fundamentals of movement and Tri-specific skills rather than fitness. The academy sessions will remain open to anyone between the above ages.
Sessions will include: Swimming, Cycling, Running (obviously!) and things like: circuits, boxercise and core stability.
The dates for the North East children's academy for early 2007 are:
- Saturday 6th January
- Saturday 3rd February
- Saturday 3rd March
- Saturday 31st March
Triathletes are asked to meet in the club room from 11:45. Sessions will start at 12pm and finish at 1:45pm.
