The North East region had an exceptionally strong contingent at this year's European Age Group Triathlon Championships in Athlone, Ireland. They came home with eight medals, including four gold's. There were also top 20 finishing positions too ensuring that every athlete did both themselves and Great Britain proud. Congratulations to everyone from the region who competed - a fantastic result!

Ian Walton of Total Racing Int also competed in the 40-44 years category but unfortunately he had to withdraw from the race due to a puncture on the bike. He said: "I was competing in Athlone last weekend but had the misfortune to puncture after three
miles, after having to find a spare wheel from another competitor because the race officials had put a ban on disk wheels half an hour
before the race due to bad weather".
