Race Report by Rob Wilkins
This race is turning into a little gem of a triathlon. The facilities at the Bassenthwaite Sailing Club are superb as its in the Lake District the location is stunning and the course has something for everyone, not too hilly and once off the first 5 mile blast along the lakeside on the A66 the roads are mainly very quiet and very pretty if you want to take in the scenery.
This year the weather was near perfect with sunshine and air temperature around 19C. Three hundred and fifteen athletes started the race and almost all finished running in front of the crowds at the sailing centre taking in the sunshine, breath-taking views across the lake to Skiddaw beyond and of course the final efforts of the returning triathletes.
