It is with great sadness that we have to announce the passing away of Mike Hall of Durham Triathlon Club. Mike died last Saturday after struggling for some time with cancer. He leaves his wife Kim, son Colin and daughters Jan and Carol.
Mike was a founding member of Durham Triathlon Club and in the mid 90’s was made an honory life president of the club in recognition of his countless world, european and national triathlon and duathlon titles. A prolific racer well into his seventies he was also instrumental in the establishment of the northern region BTA. At one time he held the positions of secretary, regional events sanctioning officer and regional representative on the national BTA committee simultaneously! The region could not have functioned without him.
Mike and Kim were a familiar site (with their caravan) at events all around the country and in Europe for many years and he will be sorely missed. A true gentleman in every sense of the word.
Mike's funeral is to take place next Friday, 18th March, at Durham Crematorium at 11.30. Kim would like this to be a celebration of Mike's life and so she hopes we will wear bright or cheerful colours rather than black. There will be refreshments afterwards at their house in Orchard Drive.
