The regional grand prix series of events is an annual opportunity for triathletes, resident in the region or members of a Triathlon England-affiliated triathlon club in this region, to test themselves against each other over the course of a full season. Please note, only BTF members will count towards the grand prix series prizes at the end of the year.

To find your score for any given race you divide the winners time by your own to create a percentage and then multiply that figure by 100 to arrive at your score. E.g. the winners time is 60 minutes and 24 seconds (60.4 minutes). Your time is 73 minutes and 42 seconds (73.7 minutes). 60.4 divided by 73.7 = 0.8195. 100 x 0.8195 = 81.95. Your score is 81.95 points. Male and female winners get 100 points each.

This region has three grand prix series' – one for triathlon, one for aquathlon and one for duathlon.

For the triathlon grand prix you compete in as many events as you wish and your best five results over the course of the season count for your final score. Only triathlons count.

For the duathlon grand prix you count your best three out of four events. The scoring system is the same as for the triathlon grand prix. The grand prix series prizes will be presented at the annual prizegiving evening, normally in December and will be a minimum of 1st Junior / 1st three overall / 1st O40 / 1st O50 (male and female).

For the triathlon grand prix there are prizes awarded in each 10-year age group category, down to third place for both male and female competitors.

The aquathlon series will consist of your best three events and scoring is worked out in the same way as for the triathlon and duathlon series.

Please note that there is the possibility of 2 or 3 more triathlon events which are still in the planning stages.

As well as the Duathlon and Triathlon Grand Prix there is also the Aquathlon Ranking Series.

You will notice a few changes from our normal Grand Prix. Over the last couple of years many events have been over-subscribed and you have found it difficult to get in the required number of events, particularly later in the season. This year we have included more events from neighbouring regions as long as they have not clashed with events in our own region. We have also included a number of the growing list of MTB Duathlons and Triathlons in order to introduce more variety.
