COMPETITION
The North East Regional series runs throughout the season and consists of British Triathlon sanctioned children’s events. Points are awarded for all competitors with the 1st place receiving most points (100points).
To qualify for the series points you must complete FOUR events of which TWO MUST BE TRIATHLONS and live in the North East Region or be a member of a North East Triathlon Club.
In addition to the NE Series, the North East annually sends a team of 14 to the National Inter-Regional Championships. These athletes MUST be members of Triathlon England.
The 2011 Inter Regional Championships will be held for the very first time in the North East. The venue will be Hetton Lyons Country Park. This will be a fantastic opportunity for the region and it will be fantastic to see the regions youngsters getting involved in this fantastic, ever growing sport.
There are 2 places plus 1 reserve for both male and female athletes in the T2 & T3 age groups and 3 places plus a reserve in the Youth category. The decision on which athletes will be invited to represent the North East region will be made by a panel comprising of Alan Copland, Colin Gardner and other Academy coaches. We will be taking into account the regional ranking points. In addition to the points table we will also be taking into account other performance criteria such as attendance at Academy sessions, potential to perform within a race situation, presentation and discipline shown at training sessions and other indicators including their potential to be effective ambassadors for our region.
