Competition
The regional series runs throughout the season and consists of British Triathlon sanctioned children’s events in the North East. Points are awarded for all competitors with the 1st place receiving most points (100points).
To qualify for the series points you must complete FOUR events of which TWO MUST BE TRIATHLONS.
In addition to the NE Series, the North East annually sends a team of 14 to the National Inter Regional Championships. The selection for the National IRCs takes place at Newcastle PLD Childrens Triathlon (8th June) and the Monkwearmouth Triathlon (21st June). Children qualify for the IRC’s by finishing 1st in their age group. These athletes MUST be members of Triathlon England. Two athletes from each age and gender from TriStar 2’s, 3’s and Youths will qualify – plus one youth spot at the National Youth Championships. The two juniors who win their race will represent the regions in the IRC’s. In the event of the same person winning both races, the second place will go to the athlete finishing in 2nd place in the later event (Monkwearmouth)
A sub committee from within the North East Regional Committee will coordinate the results and entry criteria.
The Young Triathlete's Official on the North-East Regional Committee is Barry Jameson from One Life Racing Triathlon Club and he can be contacted by e-mail at bjpn@jameson4.fsworld.co.uk
