Chairman Role:
Eddie Cooper was elected as Chairman and Sam Haddock was elected as Vice- Chairman.
Regional Planning:
All the BTA regions now match the Sport England regions. The next step is for us to develop a regional plan; this needs to be completed by September. The committee will arrange a special meeting just to work on this. We would like the secretary from each club to attend if possible.
Northern Region Web:
Northern Pulse is very successful; lots of people are using it and the links to club web sites. John is going to create a For Sale / Wanted page which will be very popular. This might help with e-mail problems in the region. If anyone has anything they wish to buy or sell could they send details though to John Howells.
Tri News:
If anyone has anything that they would like to be included in the regional news section of Tri News could they send it to the regional secretary. Tri News is focusing on one region in each issue now and we hope it will be our turn later this year.
Regional Children’s Events:
It was decided that Westgate Aquathlon and the Children’s Triathlon on 18th July will be the Northern Region events and prizes will be presented at the annual prize presentation. The RDSO suggested that children’s events should be given priority when we plan events and we should try to publicise them more. Maybe hand entry forms out at local swimming pools and sports centres.
Coaching:
There will be a BTA Level 1 Coaching Course held in Sunderland in October. The cost will be £195 and it will run over a weekend. There will be places for twenty people. The dates for this are yet to be finalised.
Area Coach:
Jack Maitland is the area coach based in Leeds. It was suggested that some time trials should be organised in the North East to identify local talent. This should be done in collaboration with the Talent ID officer (Laura) and the area coach.
