Minutes of meeting held on 11th April 2007 at the Bunny Hill Centre, Sunderland.

Matters arising.
  • Steve Robertson from Sun City is the regional rep for TE.
Triathlon England Update
  • Still a Finance vacancy for Tri England but a likely candidate is being approached.
Chairs Report
  • Entries for races are filling very quickly. Clubs are advised to get their members to try and get in early. We need more races.
  • Complaints re-£50. It will stand. It will not increase, cap for future years.
  • Regional pool available to all, any suggestions for extra equipment required – AC requested cones to be purchased and also more small arrows. Megaphone now in pool. Red Bull offered a sponsorship deal for regional events – promotional material. Could you please contact PJ and inform him of what equipment / packages are needed and he will contact Red Bull.
  • Selection of events for Northern Region Championships. Process to match Nationals - expression of interested required prior to AGM, the committee will then make a decision. Sprint and Olympic included (are we going to introduce long course again? Success of Steel Man.)
  • Police putting case forward for bikes. Looking to get answer soon. Will forward to members, stored in lock up at Seaburn, Need to look at maintenance.
  • Weardale Race – at the minute not likely to be on. Safety advisor says need closed roads but not possible in the location.
Treasurer’s Report
  • Ian - £2,600 in bank but £800 funds for the NECT.
  • Accounts are still to be done.
Regional Development Officers Report
  • Paul – increase membership - looking for coaching courses L1 & L2 at end of year.
  • Referee’s course beginning of year.
  • £5,000 from sponsorship for academy bikes available for kids events.
  • Quaker Tri – organiser’s threatened with corp manslaughter if accident on the bike resulted in death. Therefore made decision for roads to be closed.
  • TE – to investigate post code races to be included in region.
Sport England

North-East Children’s Triathlon (NECT)
  • If children’s events are running at a loss regional fund will help out donating £50.00 (AC asked for £50.00 towards the Washington Aquathlon as knows that will run at a loss.)
  • NE children’s academy taking off. The races are increasing. We need to distribute leaflets.
  • Benfield – a good location for the academy.
  • Cleveland Aquathlon – cannot be put into grand prix due to clash with national events. Any suggestions to move event to another date, then can be included.
Schools Project.
  • Request to put project onto regional web site to advertise. Also asked for volunteers to help with the events.
Any Other Business.
  • Dave- to increase link in 3 regions.
  • Regions to use TE logo.
  • Tim Wylie needs £50 cheque for coaching course.
  • Company’s/services are asking to advertise on Northern Pulse – physio recommendation – create “services” section for £50 annual charge. AC proposed – carried. “For sale” section to be created – clubs to send in items for sale. No charge for this.
  • John Howells is to start own photography business and to stop displaying free photos. There is a possible conflict of interest with website. JH left the meeting. The committee decided that JH should continue with web site – and would waive fee for putting link to photos from Northern Pulse. Everyone else who wants to put links to photos on site charged £50 annually as per new “Services” section.
  • Photographers to be approved by committee - J Howells accepted.
  • Referees co-ordinator – Tony Main is contactable – any problem contact Tony to get ref / problems with refs etc – Tony is unable to attend Wednesday evening meetings due to coaching and club commitments but is happy to remain on committee.
  • FDA – coming to try to get region to distribute Herbal products. People not interested.
  • Xmas party – Thursday 13th December booked Boldon Friendly. IM to ask availability of Eric and the Vikings, disco not booked yet. Buffet same as last year waiting for cost per head.
